State of Indian Cricket Team

Indian Cricket team, earlier this year, lost 4-0 to England and then again 4-0 to Australia (both were series defeat) needs a major overhaul.

We, the Indian fans, can’t except the lame excuse of fast green tracks abroad; as the team hasn’t been able to achieve anything in the domestic slow and turning pitches either.

BCCI had then projected as there were another 10 test matches scheduled to be played later this year in India. The Indian team would be able to turn the coin and deliver as expected.

Today India is losing 2-1 against England; interestingly ‘Times of India’ newspaper has come out with a new team setup. It has suggested that all the veteran team members be shelved and new players who are currently performing in the national format such as Ranji Trophy be included in the national team. One wonders if BCCI is also marred with the politics, as was recently revealed in IOA. Hopefully the team gets a much needed overhaul and team India is able to deliver results, thereby ducking the much apprehended disgrace and humiliation.

We have to accept the bitter truth and replace the non performing players with the ones in form. We have to start thinking about the team as a national team and not a team catering to individual players careers. I think BCCI has taken a small step forward by quashing Yuvraj, Bhajji & Zaheer for the Nagpur test, but this change is too less and won’t bear the expected results. It will be proved in the Nagpur test that the change isn’t enough and that we need quality batsman as well. New players like Jeevanjot Singh (22), Harmeet Singh(20), Unmukt Chand(19) & Parwinder Awana(26) should be considered equally as they have been performing consistently in Ranji Trophy & U-19 World cup respectively.

It's high time we clean-up. Think!

  2. A complete overhaul cannot be the solution in the middle of a series...But post this series, the selectors need to take very very tough decisions...The captain has to be replaced with immediate effect. His captaincy and even batting has been apalling, to say the least...
Let the future of indian cricket lie in fresh hands. Virat Kohli to be made the captain(atleast hopefully he will become more responsible), Manoj tiwari, anjinkya rahane to be brought in ASAP...But the real problem is our bowling...There is no future at all in this department..none of the youngsters want to work hard and perform at the test level..the Willingness is not there...As they know that they can get crores of rupees just by turning up for the ipl...bowlers like munaf patel, piyush chawla, RP Singh,Varun Aaron perform very well in the IPL, but not for the country... The only way forward is to reduce the payments in the cash rich IPL....Otherwise, there would soon be a time when we wouldnt win even with teams like West indies and Newzealand, which are improving everyday, whereas we are taking a step backwards everyday...
A complete overhaul is required...at every level possible...
Unfortunately, the Governing body(BCCI) is only interested in making money for themselves and not taking the Sport forward...

  3. "The main thing is their (the players) lack of skill and ability, which is more worrying for me. It raises questions as to the talent and quality of players coming through," Rahul Dravid.

  5. BCCI meet yesterday was a complete sham and Arun Jaitley has come out as a wicked politician. Leave alone spot fixing during the matches, the BCCI meet yesterday was also fixed!
